General Information
To enter the building, ring the doorbell outside the south courtyard
gym door. In the event that someone does
not come to the door, please call my cell phone at 720-309-3009.
Your child may purchase snacks from our
summer snack shop. The vending machines
aren’t stocked during the summer and any lost money can’t be refunded when
using the machines. I will be selling
candy, muffins, popsicles, chips, Capri Suns, and pop. A snack form must be filled out and signed
for your child to purchase any items.
Money brought to the program for spending is your child’s responsibility.
Swimming Days
We will be swimming once a week at the Oasis Water Park outdoor pool. Swimming
will begin June 5th. All children need to arrive in their swimsuits with their
clothes over the top. Please pack a towel and sunscreen. Fair skinned children will be required to
wear a swim shirt in the pool. Sunscreen should be applied to your child prior
to arriving at the school. The staff will reapply your child’s sunscreen to
them once during the 2 hr. swimming field trip.
Goggles are optional.
Fieldtrips
Fieldtrips will be held on Thursdays throughout the summer. We will travel via school bus. Please make sure your child wears comfortable
shoes, no flip flops on any field trips with the exception of Pirates
Cove. We will be walking, hiking and
playing hard and comfortable shoes will prevent stickers and toe injuries. All kids should arrive to the program at least
15 min. prior to the time listed on the calendar to ensure everyone is ready to
go. Spending money may be brought on any
field trip but will be your child’s responsibility
Anythink Library
In the past, the Bookmobile stopped at Landmark during the summer.
Since we are at Foundations, I wasn’t able to get them to change the schedule
in time to come to the school. So, on Wed. prior to swimming at The Oasis, we
will stop at the Anythink Library in Brighton for one hour. All children are encouraged to have a library
card this summer. We will be reading for 30 min. daily. Children will be given
a Reading Buck each day that they are on task reading. The kids will save up
for pizza parties and prizes. I will
need all children to bring their Anythink Library card by June 5th. I can keep the cards
at Kids Adventures for the summer or you can have your child keep it in their
backpack. If your child doesn’t have one, please fill out the attached library
card application and we will make sure they get one the first day.
Garden Club
Kids Adventures will have Garden Club each week as part of our
activities. Mr. Hammond has allowed Kids
Adventures to help with maintaining the Foundations garden for the summer. I will provide garden gloves for children who
want to wear them. We will learn what’s
involved in taking care of a garden, types of bugs that hang out there, and
maybe taste some new vegetables. We will also be decorating the gardens with
painted rocks and garden markers.
Toys from home
Children may bring iPods, phones, Readers and Nintendo DS type toys as long as
they follow the rules on when they are appropriate for use. Children may bring
other types of toys as well. They are responsible for their own toys. If any issues arise with bringing toys, they
will be handled on a case by case basis.
Discipline
I will always have my staff give a reminder of the rules the first time. If a
child doesn’t change the negative behavior after the first warning, writing sentences,
sitting out or clean up duty may be given for punishment. Depending on the
situation, parents may be notified by phone if necessary.
